The Lap-Sharp™ system enables
you to achieve incredible sharp "flat ground" edges with a near
mirror-smooth finish in minutes, the time taken being dependent on the
state of the tool at commencement.
Are you one of those people who see sharpening tools as a bit of a chore?
Well if so with a Lap-Sharp™ that goes away to be replaced by the pleasure
& pride of producing and owning sharp tools. The time taken to get to
that point depends naturally on the condition of the tool when you start,
that could be 5 or 30 minutes, it all depends on the starting condition
BUT once you have it sharpened it the time taken to refresh the edge,
after use, is minimal.
The sharpness and finish that can be achieved are the benefits, even
by a novice to sharpening, that accrue through the design features of
the Lap-Sharp™.
- First there is the use of easily interchangeable, colour coded abrasive
disk plates with replaceable abrasive disks in a wide range grit sizes
(180µ down to 1µ) and material types (Aluminium Oxide, Diamond
& Trizact™) that rotate at less than 200 rpm, and are mounted
horizontally.
- The horizontally mounted disks provide a more natural operating position,
and that in turn allows for excellent control over the tool being sharpened
and leads to a shorter learning curve to achieving incredibly sharp
and flat tool edges with a near mirror-smooth finish.
- Both hands of the operator are free to hold the tool being sharpened
as a Foot Switch controls
 the
"ON/OFF" function of rotation whilst direction is set using & "Forward
& Reverse" switches prior to the operation.
- Given the comparatively slow speed of rotation it will not overheat
the tool steel being ground, it can be run either wet or dry and a hand
sprayer is included to provide a lubricating mist thus ensuring longer
life of the abrasives. The recommended lubricant consists of a few drops
of "washing up liquid" in water.
The end result is a "flat ground" sharp blade; these are more
robust than "hollow ground" blades and longer lasting, they have a mirror
finish and there is the pleasure that comes from using tools in tip top
condition and the pride in knowing that you produced that finish.
The standard Lap-Sharp™ package
includes a machined cast aluminium enclosure complete with Abrasive Disk
Turntable driven by a quality US made motor with needle bearing that ensure
accuracy of rotation and long life, the Abrasive Disk Securing Knob, 4
colour coded abrasive disk plates, a pack of 10 PSA abrasive sheets (120µ
to 10µ), Lubricant Spray Bottle and full documentation package including
a DVD on the use of the machine, the appropriate power cord and Foot Switch
along with "ON/OFF" & "Forward & Reverse" control switches on the main
body of the machine.
